Counselling

Counselling, also known as talk therapy, is a confidential process in which a trained professional helps you explore the challenges you face in a safe, non-judgmental space. Once you can name your challenges, your counsellor guides you through a treatment plan you agree on together.

Individual counselling

One-on-one sessions give you focused attention on your concerns, your personal growth and your coping strategies. Individual counselling is well suited to:

  • Anxiety and overthinking — managing constant worry, panic or stress.
  • Depression and burnout — coping with hopelessness or work-life exhaustion.
  • Grief, loss and life transitions — processing loss, career changes or relationship shifts.
  • Trauma — working through painful past events in a safe, confidential space.

Couples and marriage counselling

Relationship difficulties usually start with poor communication, which leads to misunderstanding, then conflict, and finally detachment, separation or divorce. We help partners see how they relate to each other and strengthen the areas where they struggle, while coming to understand their different personalities, attachment styles and the unspoken dynamics between them.

Family counselling

Families carry patterns across generations — some genetic, some learned. We work with family members to identify behavioural patterns and systemic conflicts so that everyone can understand one another better.

Group counselling

Group sessions at Tredela CMRC take two forms.

Counselling and clinical supervision

Counselling professionals review their cases with an experienced, licensed supervisor to sharpen their skills and keep their practice safe and ethical — individually or in a small group of peers.

Addiction groups and general groups

People who share similar challenges meet as a group and are supported by specialised counsellors and therapists. Addiction groups include alcohol, substance use and gambling groups, where members share their experiences and support one another through recovery. General groups may bring together colleagues of the same rank or department, or students facing similar challenges.

Addiction group therapy supervision meets on Mondays and Saturdays.

Our approaches

These are the theoretical approaches our counsellors most commonly use.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Helps you change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours to relieve conditions such as anxiety and depression.

  • Person-centred (humanistic) therapy

Unconditional positive regard: a non-judgmental, empathetic space in which you discover your own potential for growth.

  • Psychodynamic therapy

Explores unconscious thoughts, past experiences and early childhood to resolve deep-seated conflicts.

  • Eclectic / Multi-Theoretical Psychotherapy (MTP)

Combines techniques from several theories to match your needs. Tredela takes this further by bringing in outdoor and recreational activities such as swimming, horse riding, bird-watching and sport.
