Addiction

Substance and behavioural addiction — what they are and where help starts.

Addiction covers compulsive behaviours such as alcoholism, substance misuse, compulsive sexual behaviour and gambling.

Two kinds of addiction

  • Substance use: misuse of alcohol, nicotine, cannabis, cocaine, opioids or prescription sleeping pills.
  • Behavioural addiction: compulsive actions that do not involve drugs, such as sex, gambling or internet gaming.

Getting support

Tredela CMRC runs addiction groups — for alcohol, substance use, gambling and more — where people meet at the same day and time to share their experiences and support each other in their healing journey, guided by specialised counsellors.
